  1. guns: Causing deaths or saving Lives? By Oliver St. John

  2. Life Without Guns • Imagine you are a 40-year old man living in California, with strict gun laws. You have a lovely wife and two superb children. You are all sleeping soundly in your beds. You are woken up by the sound of shattering glass coming from the living room. POWER WORD! Strict: Unrelenting and tough, must be obeyed.

  3. Life Without Guns • You run downstairs to investigate. You creep into the living room. Oh no! The intruder has a gun! He commands you to call your family downstairs. You obey. When they see the intruder, your children cry and your wife screams for help. For that, the intruder shoots your wife in the leg. Your wife falls to the ground, but you cannot help.

  4. Life Without Guns • For the next two hours, the intruder takes all your possessions. The minute the intruder leaves, you rush your wife to the hospital, but it is too late. She has to get her leg removed. All because you can’t own a gun. So long!

  5. The End of the (peaceful) World as we Know it • This country’s gun laws keep getting stricter, yet more people are breaking them. I think everyone should own a gun, because guns are great for protecting your home and family, sporting and hunting, and protecting yourself in places like Los Angeles, Chicago, and other shady places. THINK: Would you feel safer if you had a gun? Uh oh. Good thing I have a gun.

  6. Gun Defense • Here is the story of a man armed with a baseball bat who broke into an elderly woman’s home and hurt a woman inside. The elderly woman grabbed a revolver and shot him (not to kill). He might have done more damage if there hadn’t been a gun in the house. Also, it teaches the man not to mess with granny, and other criminals now know to stay out of her house. BANG! I’m out of here.

  7. Gun Defense • There are many more stories of innocent people defending themselves with guns. Some people (think Alaskans) use guns to defend themselves from bears and other creatures. Ahh! I hope it’s hunting season

  8. Guns Around the World • In Chicago, there are many gun laws, yet people (especially criminals) still get guns and kill others. People need guns to defend themselves. This brings up a point. Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. • In Alaska, where you don’t find a lot of supermarkets, a gun comes in handy when you need food. This is the case in a lot of the world. It also brings up another point. Guns are also great for sporting. • In Switzerland, crime rates are the lowest in the world. Also, the law says you have to own a gun. This proves that no one will break into a house with a gun in it. POWER WORDS! Crime rates: The rate of crime in any given area.

  9. It’s Time to Play: Good or Bad! • Hey, everyone! Today’s topic for Good or Bad is safety. For the three locations, guess which is good or bad. Good luck! I’m a bad, bad place. Chicago I’m good if you want to be safe. Alaska Switzerland You’d live the good life with me.

  10. Who Gets a Gun? • Now, don’t get me wrong. We still need a background check and things like that for a U.S. citizen to own a gun. However, nowadays there are so many hoops to jump through that barely anyone manages to do it. Except me! THINK: Which place would you most want to live in, if you had to move?

  11. Conclusion • The bottom line is, that there is a reason the 2nd amendment of the constitution says we have the right to bear arms. Guns are perfect for scaring away intruders, sporting and hunting, and defending yourself. Every U.S. citizen should own a gun! Hooray for guns!

  12. Guns are good for surviving the apocalypse. fin No kidding.
