  1. Multi GDD Note: Be sure you have already selected your station and time interval before choosing this product. The Multi GDD is a chart showing growing degree day (GDD) units with a variety of Base Temperatures Click on AWN Reports Click on Multi GDD

  2. Multi GDD • The growth rates of insects and diseases on plants are dependent upon the amount of heat the plant receives. Each insect or disease is adapted to grow best over certain minimum temperatures and cease growth at its own maximum temperature. • GDD is used to • Predict when these pests are likely to show up in a given area • Determine when to control pests • Predict timing of pesticides/insecticides for more accurate control • Monitor landscapes for plant problems

  3. Multi GDD The calculations of the GDD for a 24 hour period uses the following formula (Max. temp + min. temp)/2 - base temperature=GDD Note: It is imperative to know which base number corresponds to the species of interest. These numbers can be found at WSU Extension Offices, many agricultural web sites, or in the literature.

  4. Multi GDD Graph GDDs are cumulative within a growing season.
