  1. Update of global reanalysis intercomparison initiative • A draft metrics for global reanalysis intercomparison was introduced in IGST IX (07/2004). • IGST IX recommended working with CLIVAR on this. • CLIVAR/GSOP 1st panel meeting (11/2004) actions: • (1) To develop a guideline for global ocean reanalysis intercomparison (metrics & reference datasets). • (2) Metrics & reference datasets should be agreeable to individual basin panels & WGOMD. • (3) Explore subsurface indices as part of metrics.

  2. Activities • Input from Pacific panel (01/2005) & Indian-Ocean panel (04/2005) incorporated. • Input from ETCCD on possible subsurface indices received (06/2005). • Updated input from Pacific panel (11/2005). • Expecting input from Atlantic panel & WGOMD. • Possible one-day ocean reanalysis intercomparison workshop in 06/2006 following atmospheric reanalysis meeting in ECMWF.
