  2. While developing a software application, programmers perform unit testing to evaluate individual units of source code. The primary objective of unit testing is to help programmers check if each unit or component of the software is behaving as expected. Also, a unit test can be any smallest testable part of the software including classes, interfaces, functions, and procedures.

  3. The developers also have option to write and execute unit tests efficiently by using robust test automation tools. However, the programmers have to select the unit testing framework according to their programming language. JUnit is a popular unit testing framework for Java programming language. It comes with features to enable Java programmers to write and run unit tests more efficiently.

  4. Features that Make JUnit Useful for Java Programmers Graphical User Interface JUnit is designed with a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI makes it easier for Java programmers to write code faster. Also, it includes a status bar that help users to monitor the test progress. The status bar remains green till a test case runs smoothly. Each time a test case fails the color of the status bar changes from green to red. Fixtures Fixtures refer to fixed state of a set of objects. The feature provides a baseline for running tests. The Java programmers can also take advantage of fixtures to run tests in a stable environment and make the test results repeatable. They can also avail two distinct methods – setUp() and tearDown(). The programmers need to run setUp() before invoking each test and run tearDown() after running each test method.

  5. Test Suites The feature enables Java programmers to bundle multiple test cases as a test suite. The test suites make it easier for developers to execute multiple test cases simultaneously.
