NEW Fall 2013 Undergraduate Admission Policy Change • All CSULB undergraduate majors become impacted and all will have major specific admission and declaration requirements • Alternate majors will no longer be considered • Major-specific coursework +CSU Upper Division Transfer requirements • GPA will be specific to each major • GPA ranges from 2.0 and higher • Space availability for each major based on ranking of applicant pool • Local preference based on high school of origin • Military Vets are local CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH

NEW Fall 2013 Undergraduate Admission Policy Change • AllCSULB undergraduate majors become impacted and all will have major specific admission and declaration requirements • Initial Admission based on self report • Evaluation Process: • 1) Submit Supplemental applicationif requested • 2) Submit Official Transcripts if offered admission • Honor all verifiedAssociate Transfer Degrees (AA/S-T’s) • ~ Will receive a .1 GPA bump and • ~ New recalculated GPA will be used • ~ AA/AS-T’s can trump CSULB local agreements • ALL admission requirements completed by SPRING 2013 • New CSULB G.E. Pattern, Certification not necessary but recommended • Enrollment Services: all applicant correspondence is Electronic only CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH

Fall 2013 Transfer Admission Selection Process • Admit (except for "Highly Impacted" majors): those considered "local" based on their high school of graduation or their military veteran status and have met the minimum major cumulative GPA and required lower-division preparation. • Admit: those on a space-available basis who are not considered "local," but have met the major-specific minimum cumulative GPA and the minimum required lower-division major preparation. • If space is available, CSU eligible students without the minimum major preparation will then be considered. • Consider to admit all others, if the applicant agrees to complete recommended CSULB transfer requirements in their first year at CSULB. • Highly Impacted Majors: admitted based on completion of all posted additional supplemental criteria and requirements. ASSOCIATE ARTS/SCIENCE - TRANSFER DEGREES • CSULB will : • Honor all finalized AA/S-T’s equivalent at CSULB • Allow completed AA/AS-T’s to trump CSULB local agreements • Provide a .1 GPA bump and recalculate new GPA • New calculated GPA will be applied to the major specific minimum GPA and to any GPA used in the ranking of applicants CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH

  13. 2013 RECOMMENDATIONS • Selection is highly competitive - strive for A’s! • Complete “Golden 4” as early as possible. • Complete allmajor specific requirements as early as possible. • Check application status often online at: www.csulb/applicationstatus • When possible, increaseand repairyour GPA • Apply early - complete files early – know the deadlines. • Have back-up less competitive university (s) • Keep all contact information up-to-date.
