  3. Events that led clamour for independence in the 13 British Colonies • The British Parliament and the King’s ministers wrote a series of new tax laws called Acts. • 1st tax law, Sugar Act • Stamp Act • More Acts were passed and more money flowed into Great Britain.

Reasons for victory on The Americans • Leaders gathered together in Philadelphia in a big meeting called the First Continental Congress. • The Continental Congress wrote out a petition and sent it to George III and Parliament • Americans didn’t know what’s the response but they’re sure war will be followed

  7. Young men were practicing with weapons. • Young men called themselves minutemen. • The British knew where the Minutemen were storing weapons and their biggest collection of weapon was in Concord. • The minutemen sacrificed their lives.

  8. June 17, 1775, the first huge battle took place. • Attacked American soldiers camped on Bunker hill, but after 3 charges, the Americans were defeated.

  9. Countries who joined the war • In 1778, France decided to join the battle and fought with the Americans against England. • Later Netherlands and Spain joined the revolt too.

  11. Reasons that led the unification of the 13 former British Colonies • Forming of the Constitution • Need to unite or else the new state would be in trouble

How did the formulation of the Constitution prepare the former 13 colonies for the unification? • The first plan for the unification of the 13 British Colonies was made by Benjamin Franklin in 1754 at the Albany Congress. However, it was not until July4, 1778 that the 13 colonies unified and formed a nation called The United States of America.

  13. When was the start of the unification of the 13 British Colonies? • When George Washington gathered all the other officials of the 13 British Colonies. • Started to made the Constitution • Need to unite or else the country would be in trouble.

What is The Declaration of Independence • Drafted by Thomas Jefferson • Jefferson expressed the convictions in the minds and hearts of the American people.  • The Declaration of Independence is at once the nation’s most cherished symbol of liberty and Jefferson’s most enduring work. • Announced that the Americans are now independent.

  16. What messages can we infer? • The British empire doesn’t control the Americans. • The 13 former colonies of British is now united and, therefore The United States of America is formed.

  17. How did the American Declaration of Independence intensify the nationalistic sentiments of the colonies. State the Important points stated in the declaration of independence. Important points, • All Men have inherent rights to life, liberty and property. • Democracy • Leadership roles are not inherited ( voting)

Should have separation between Legislative and Executive Branch. • Government should ask the consent of the people before suspending laws. • All people have the right to trial by jury and to confront witnesses. • Freedom of Press should be allowed. • People have a right to a uniform government.
