State Work Ready Report • State WIB Award for Regions - When 80% of counties have 50% AW completion and Region is at 20% Gold • Accelerated Counties not at Goal to prepare 6 months action plans • New Website – before end of year – Regional focus • Shopping cart for outreach materials • At State WIB, Vice Chair Wendall Dallas and member Valencia Adams reported on WR assessment experience at Gwinnett Tech – Wendall scored Platinum

Continued Best Practices • DeKalb – Workforce Board requiring of all who attend orientation and working to have proctors in each high school and test all 6000 seniors • Increased emphasis on targeting unemployed – Flyers at DOL, DFCS, Goodwill, Church networking groups • Articles in Oglethorpe paper showing School Supervisor taking the assessment spurred other counties to get incolved • Barrow successful in getting major industry – Rhodia as chair or Workforce Committee • Mayors of Duluth, Norcross, Lilburn in a challenge for the GOLD

Go for the Gold strategies • Awarding $20 gas card – may obtain up to $40 • Signs posted in Georgia Department of Labor, Goodwill, DFCS and Church Network Groups • Mass emails, follow-up phone calls • Gas card flyers handed out at job fairs/expos • Increased visibility through Georgia Trend • Increased traffic due to Billboards – Walton County • Increased visibility through use of Mobile Units (ARWB and NEGaWIB)

Other Regional Strategies worth noting Heart of Georgia • Targeted industries paying $50 incentive to take assessments - $100 for earning Platinum • High Schools giving grade adjustments for WR and WR recognized at graduation West Georgia Advanced Manufacturing • Splitting advertisement costs • 50% split with preferred, required or logo • Limit $1000 depending on jobs

Furthering the cause • Cinda Herndon-King speaking at Building BioTech Bridges in San Diego, October 29 on model programs • Association for Career and Technical Education in Charlotte, December 4 – GaBio, Biotechnology Institute, Athens Tech and Gwinnett Tech and Walton Career Academy are presenting a workshop on the IC as a model partnership in workforce development • Innovation Crescent Workforce group included technical colleges, Ga Bio and ARC selected to present workshop at the BioInternational Conference May 2009
