  1. Advanced theatre Students will participate in a mental and physical challenge where the students will be given a certain amount of time to create the following animals: Animal Mayhem • Fish • Kangaroo • Elephant • Mr. Mcbay

  2. Advanced theatre The Martha game Divide the class into two teams. Group stands outside a designated performance space. One person runs into the space, forms her body into a statue and announces what she is, as in "I'm a tree." Instantly the next person runs on and forms something else in the same picture. "I'm a bench under the tree." The next person further adds to the picture. "I'm a bum on the bench." "I'm a dog peeing on the tree." "I'm the newspaper the bum is sleeping under." Etc., until the whole group is part of the picture. Start again. And again. Etc. Coach this to go very, very fast. There is no time to think--just go! If there are two teams, they alternate

  3. Name 10 Advanced theatre Ask everyone to stand in a circle. Toss the ball to someone and name a category (e.g., flowers, Presidents, instruments). That person passes the ball to her right and names 10 items in that category before the ball is passed all the way around the circle and reaches her again. When the ball gets back to her, she gets to toss it to someone new and say a new category. The new person has to pass the ball to her right and name 10 items in the new category before the ball gets passed around the circle. Repeat until everyone has had a turn naming 10 items for a category. If a person cannot name 10 items in the category, she is either out or she must tell an interesting fact about herself before returning to the game

  4. One word One person comes up and writes one word on the paper the pattern continues until everyone has gone then the first person comes back up and reads the story aloud to the class.

  5. Look up dude Theatre 1 Stand in a circle. Everyone look at the floor. When the leader calls out, "Look up!" everyone must look directly into the face of someone else in the circle. Most people will find they are looking at someone who is not looking back at them, but a few people will probably find that they are staring directly into someone else's eyes. When this happens, these two people are "out," and must exclaim to each other, "Dude!" as they leave the circle. Continue in this fashion until only one (or, if there's an even number in the group, two) are left. At first this won't take very long, but after a while a group will get to the point where they can go for a long time without anyone being knocked out.

  6. Duck duck, whatever Theatre 1 Sit in a circle, facing the inside. One person stands on the outside of the circle. The person standing moves around the outside of the circle, tapping people lightly on the head and saying, “Duck,” with each tap. At some point, instead of saying “Duck,” the person on the outside of the circle names any kind of animal (e.g., horse, tiger, eagle) as she taps a head. The standing person now runs around the circle as that animal (e.g., galloping like a horse) and the person who she tapped must chase them around the circle like that animal. If the person gets tagged, she must come in the middle and say something interesting about herself. The chaser is now the tapper. If the person sits in the vacant seat of the chaser before being tagged, then the chaser becomes the tapper

  7. Keep it in the air Theatre 1 Ask everyone to stand in a circle and toss a balloon/ball into the air. The whole class needs to work together to keep the balloon/ball from touching the ground. Add in more balloons/balls as the class gets more proficient.
