  2. ULTIMATE GOAL . Improve the quality of life by increasing the access and standard of health care available in the developing countries of the Asia Pacific through the provision of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

  3. INTERPLAST Interplast sends teams of VOLUNTEER plastic & reconstructive surgeons, anesthetists and nurses to the Asia Pacific region to deliver programs of aid and development.

  4. PROGRAMS • 2 weeks • Volunteer Medical Team • All equipment and supplies • Budget approx. $40K

  6. 2007/2008 PROGRAMS • 23 Programs Delivered • In 15 Countries • Providing 967 Operations • Delivering training to medical staff • Involving over 120 volunteers • Providing over $A 1.9 million worth of pro bono services.

  7. TRAINING/DEVELOPMENT • Invited over by the Ministry of Health • Contribute to the development and training of plastic & reconstructive surgery • Meet the needs of the country

  8. SPONSORED FOR TRAINING Over 65 doctors and nurses have been sponsored to receive part of their training in Australia.

  16. Benefits of Involvement • Provide a life changing operation to individual patients • Train doctors, anaesthetists & nurses in their own countries • Develop goodwill & international relationships with other countries • Develop goodwill & relationships with other Rotary Clubs

IN SUMMARY • Founded in 1983 • Training of hundreds of doctors & nurses in the Asia Pacific • Sponsored 60 doctors & nurses to continue their training in Australia • Sent 42 Rotarian Ambassadors on programs • Sent over 600 volunteers on over 400 programs in 22 countries for • 30,000 consultations and 17,000 operations
