  2. It’s a necessity In today’s increasingly globalizing world economy the demands on our youth to become global minded leaders are becoming more and more apparent. Without this invaluable skill they will not have the competitive edge they will need to excel in the job market of the future. The Spanish language is an important part of this future for our graduating students.

Spanish in the world • Spanish is the second most important language of business after English. • Spanish is gaining more importance around the world in other disciplines as well…it is already ranked in the top 5 for the sciences. ñ • Encyclopedia Britannica’s World Data Analyst project that by 2030 Spanish will be spoken by 7.5% of the world’s population putting it ahead of English as a world language.

  13. &Policy and Safeguards te • T&E requires under-aged participants to be accompanied by a chaperone (from home institution or T&E appointed) • T&E provides special homestay assignments for younger participants who work very closely with T&E staff in Spain • T&E vigorously enforces a 12am curfew and zero tolerance for alcohol consumption (violation will result in immediate expulsion from the program) • T&E provides students with a 24 hour emergency hotlines for teachers, students and parents both in Spain and US • T&E provides mobile phones for all of its participants for ease of communication with chaperones and T&E staff during the program period • T&E Provides a mandatory comprehensive insurance policy in addition to general global liability and local medical coverage

The Plan Ingredients for a successful program launch • Introduce opportunity at open house in Sept or at study abroad meetings and fairs in the fall • Set a date for information meeting and advertise it • Meet with student (and parents if applicable) to discuss the benefits of study abroad and details—SET A DATE for program and FOR DEPOSITS • Collect applications and deposits by the deadline • THIS IS WHERE T&E TAKES OVER

  19. Applications • Students submit applications via an online application process. http://www.travelandeducation.org/ . T&E can also generate group profiles so that students can apply directly to your school’s specific program. • Once they have submitted the application they will get “Welcome Email” from T&E (or you will get a group roster) and it will provide a link to access their application in order to make changes and additions: http://travelandeducation.org/student/modify.php?id=862&p=2147483647 • Students will receive official T&E Orientation Packets in the mail within two weeks of applying with information booklet and gifts. • Group chaperones submit their own applications via the same online process where they will be able to specify their preferred procedure for communications and billing and also be able to request onsite orientations and other items.

Payments • Once applications have been submitted, an invoice • will be generated. • There are two types of invoicing: • Single invoice groups: for this type of group the chaperone will provide T&E with a roster of individuals who will be contacted to apply to the program. Once all student apps are in the invoice is generated to the school. • Individually invoiced groups: for this type of group, student apply and are billed individually with little or no involvement from the school administration. • Due dates are specified on the invoice –Summer invoices due first week of April.

  21. The final Stretch • Once all details have been collected (levels, documents, personal data) and payments have been made T&E will begin to make arrangements for the group in Spain. • Academics (by level) • Housing (by choice) • Service package and cultural programming • Any special requests from chaperones • Assistance is provided for pre-departure orientation and preparation of the group in person or via Skype on a predetermined date about one-month prior.
