  1. Welcome to Algebra 2 PAP Look at these hints for tomorrow’s “test”

  2. Hint 1.1 Using Dimensional Analysis Convert 30 mi/h to ft/s =

  3. Hint 1.2 Distribute the negative Simplify: = = Evaluate: = = -15

  4. Hint 1.3 Multiply to clear fractions • Solve for x: • Multiplying all terms by the “common denominator” of 6 will clear fractions • and make solving this problem a lot easier. • 8 = 2x • so… x = 4

  5. Hint 1.4 Solve by factoring Solve for y: Hint 1.5 Look at p. 35 Example 2 in textbook

  6. Hint 1.6 Remember to change the direction of the inequality when multiplying or dividing through by a negative number. Notice the change in the direction of the inequality!

  7. Hint 1.7 Look for two solutions Please read section 1.7 in your textbook carefully! Many Algebra 1 classes may not have studied solving absolute value equations and inequalities. When solving an absolute value equation one must examine that the following statements are both true: = 3 Solve: The solution in red does not work (is extraneous) because it does not check in the original problem. Please refer to Ex. 3 and 4 on pp. 52-53 in book.

  8. Review this slide show as often as needed to grasp the concepts. Remember to use your textbook and the internet as resources. You tube is full of wonderful math videos…google it!
