  2. Introductions: Mrs. Fox • 9th year at Moore • Taught middle school for one year with Alvord Unified • Working with various school districts for close to 20 years • Originally from Orange County, now living in Beaumont

  3. What do we cover this year? • 13 British Colonies • U.S. Revolutionary War • U.S. Constitution • Jeffersonian America • Mexican-American War, Women/Slave issues • Nation Divides • U.S. Civil War • Wild West/Eastern Business

  4. Character matters! • We practice: • Effort • Kindness • Respect • Weekly quotes about character • Friday video clips on character and making a difference

  6. “At a Glance” • Students ALWAYS know what is going on! • Homework and projects are clearly posted • At a glance can also be found on my website • No “surprise” quizzes! They always know when a test is coming!

  7. Absent? • Homework due dates and all power points can all be found on my teacher web page • Students are responsible for making up missed tests and/or quizzes either before or after school or during lunch

  8. Absent/Late Work • Students are allowed to turn in late work up until the end of the grading period (End of Quarter). The later the work is turned in the more points are taken off due to lateness!

  9. Textbooks • New adoption this year: Discovery Education, Textbook &“Techbook” • Students can access their online book and curriculum pieces through their clever account and my classroom website

  10. Technology • Class chrome books • Class website • Google Classroom used on occasion for assignments/projects • Student cell phones will be confiscated and taken to office for parent pick up if used without permission or in an inappropriate manner per district policy

  11. Internet/Computer Access • School library open before school & until 4 PM each day • Chrome books in all core classes with internet • I am usually available before and after school • My class website, Google Classroom, and Discovery pieces all work on smart phone devices well – not just computers/laptops • Public library, neighbors, friends, family • If internet or computer access is a hardship for you please either call, email, or see me so we can find a solution together that works for your family

  12. Grades • Tests/Quizzes: 30% • Projects 30% • Summaries/Notes : 25% • Class work & Homework 15% (NOT summaries):
