  2. Patrick Henry • Henry County was formed in 1821 from Creek Indian lands. • Georgia's 52nd county was named for Patrick Henry, an American patriot whose powerful rhetoric helped push the colonies into the Revolutionary War.

  3. Commodore Thomas Macdonough • Although spellings differ, McDonough, the county seat, was named for Commodore Thomas Macdonough. • Macdonough was a hero and commander of American naval forces in the Battle of Lake Champlain in the War of 1812.
