  29. PT-CRIS Excellence, Knowledge and impact in research information systems

  30. Mission Ensure the creation and sustaineddevelopment of an national integrated informationecosystem to support scientific activity developed in Portugal according to the best international standards and practices CRIS-EN

  31. Goals • Define the regulatory framework to adopt • Coordinate FCT’s systems integration in accordance with the regulatory framework • Coordinateexternal systems integration with FCT (National and International) according to the regulatory framework • Support and disclose within the community the use of the PT-CRIS systems. EN-CRIS

  32. Strategy - Principles • Services can be provided centrally or using a decentralized system. • Existing serviceswill be used wherever possible. If necessary, these services will be expanded in order to provide a national service. • The services are easy, intuitive, efficient and effective to use. • Only services which meet the needs of education and research will be implemented. • The shared serviceswill enable cost optimization. CRIS-PT

  33. Strategy - Principles • The sustainability of the services is of vital importance. • The entire life cycle of scientific information will be covered by the services available. • The legal constraints will be observed. When the appropriate bases are missing, the program must initiate their creation. • The services are guided by national and international standards and best practices. • There is central governance with clearly defined interfaces and standards. • The services will be made available through defined interfaces and standards in order that they can be used autonomously by the organizations. CRIS-PT

  39. Conclusions PT-CRIS is key stone for science and technology management because: • Aims to integrate the constituent systems creating a open ecosystem, from which all stakeholders can easily benefit from and contribute to, bringing advantages to all. • Aims to place Portugal in frontlinecountries with CRIS more developed and aligned with standards and best practices EN-CRIS

  40. Conclusions PT-CRIS will promote excellence of science in Portugal, by giving greater visibility for all national and international, stakeholders, facilitatingmanagement and production of science and innovation processes, through easier access to authoritative, complete and reliable information . 49. Discussion / cooperation! (1/3) • Organizations • Is the adoption of standards for Organizations management enough? • Need for clear governance (registry/registrar)? • Need for information systems (ex: names)? • Are ISNI and Ringhold services mature? PT-CRIS
