Exchanging documents • File versions (mostly) PC and Mac compatible • Newer Macs can use PC-formatted disks • Easy file exchange • No version problems • Office XP programs open files created in older and Mac versions • The Exceptions: FrontPage 2002, Access • No equivalent Mac version of FrontPage; no Access for Mac City College of San Francisco: Technology Learning Center

Buying Microsoft Office for Home • Buy MS Office, latest versions, for home use • Mac and PC versions available • CCSF Faculty and Staff (not students) • Must obtain and send in order form from Web • Must prove employed at CCSF • Copy of Pay Stub or • Letter from Dept head • Great Deal!   18. Adding new software • Your Tier level determines if you can install programs yourself • Be Careful! Follow installation instructions • Inform ITS of program installs • Check with the Technology Review Working Group before installing software that affects the network • E.g. chat, server-based programs, streaming media City College of San Francisco: Technology Learning Center

Software compliance • When you log on to a PC, you may see a message ending with PLEASE DO NOT COPY, INSTALL ANY ILLEGAL OR UNLICENSED SOFTWARE ON THIS COMPUTER SYSTEM! • Any commercial software must be legally: • Purchased • Licensed • Installed in accordance with its license City College of San Francisco: Technology Learning Center
