  4. Tomsk City Tomsk (Russian: Томск) is a city on the Tom River in the southwest of Siberian Federal District, Russia, the administrative centre of Tomsk Oblast. One of the oldest towns in Siberia, Tomsk celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2004. Population: 487,838 (2007)

Flights • S7 Frankfurt (Main) – Moskow – Tomsk (daily) (www.s7.ru) • Lufthansa Frankfurt (Main) - Moskow, S7 or Krasair Moskow –Tomsk (daily) • S7 Frankfurt (Main) – Moskow – Novosibirsk (daily) • Lufthansa Frankfurt (Main) – Moskow, S7 Moskow – Novosibirsk (daily) • You can also go by train!!! Berlin – Warsaw – Minsk – Moskow – Novosibirsk – Tomsk (ca. 1 week) • Or by bus!!! Ludwigshafen – Moskow – Novosibirsk – Tomsk (ca. 5 days)

TPU and courses • TPU was founded in 1896, best technical university in Siberia • 21 laboratories and academic buildings, 8 faculties • Courses in management in Russian or English (http://www.iie.tpu.ru) • Also courses in Russian language, history, literature • Lessons: Monday – Saturday, 1,5 h, without stable time-talbe and lunch break  • All courses are required courses, without lecture notes, you havetake notes yourself

  8. Rent Dormitory • International hostel in A.Ivanova Street for free! • or hostel in Usova Street together with russian students for free! Flat • 1-room-flat in Tomsk city – ca. 300 Euro – direct inquiries at Mrs. Anna Tseluyko, exchange coordinator (incoming students)

  9. Food • Cafeteria at university for ca. 2 – 3 € (starter, main dish, salad, dessert) – not recommendable • Cafeteria at internation hostel A. Ivanova for ca. 2 – 3 € - recommendable • Coffee bars around TPU for ca. 3 – 7 € - recommendable • Don´t buy shashlik in kiosks! – food piosoning.

  10. Costs • Partner university – without tuition fees!!! (normally costs one semester ca. 1,500 €!) • Books – ca. 10-20 € for one, altogether I spent ca. 50 € for 3 books • Copies – ca. 5 Cent for 1 page • Internet – ca. 2 € for 1 hour using Exchange rate: 1€ = ca. 36 Ruble

Leisure Time • Nature: Tom-River, woods and lakes!!! • Sport: skiing, ice-skating, snowboarding – in winter outside and all kinds of sports inside (TPU offers for free!) • Clubs: Fakel, Irish Pub, and co. – every day open • University: Culture house, English club • Cinema: Kinomir, Max, Kinoclub • Tea house • Trips / travels • Visiting friends

  12. Travel • Ferry along Tom-river • Siberian summer house (Dasha) • Siberian sauna in the nature • Novosibirsk – capital city of Siberia • Krasnoyarsk – rock climbing -> Stolbi • Lake Baikal • Altai mountains • Mongolia or China • Wladiwostok • Moskow or St.Petersbourg
