  2. La hidrografía chilena presenta características singulares según la región natural que se estudie. Estas condiciones se relacionan principalmente con factores como clima y relieve, los cuales influyen en aspectos como régimen y caudal. • A consecuencia de la disposición del relieve y la estrechez del territorio, en general los ríos del país son cortos, de escaso caudal, torrentosos e inapropiados para la navegación, pero presentan gran potencial hidroeléctrico. • Los del norte tienen régimen nivoso, los del centro mixto y los del sur pluvial.

  3. ZONAS HIDROGRAFICAS DE CHILE • RIOS DE REGIMEN ESPORADICO EN LA ZONA ÁRIDA DE CHILE (Exorreicas: Loa, Lluta; Endorreicas: Puna, Pampa Tamarugal; Arreicas). Se distinguen sistemas exorreicos, endorreicos y arreicos. • RIOS EN TORRENTE DE REGIMEN MIXTO EN LA ZONA SEMIARIDA DE CHILE (Copiapó, Huasco, Elqui, Limarí, Choapa) • RIOS EN TORRENTE DE REGIMEN MIXTO EN LA ZONA SUBHUMEDA DE CHILE (Maipo, Maule, Biobio) • RIOS TRANQUILOS CON REGULACION LACUSTRE EN LA ZONA HUMEDA DE CHILE (Imperial, Valdivia, Bueno, Rahue, Maullín) • RIOS CAUDALOSOS TRASANDINOS Y CAMPOS DE HIELO EN LA PATAGONIA DE CHILE (Futaleufú, Aisén, Baker)
