  3. To Include people with disabilities in THEIR COMMUNITY What is community inclusion?

  4. BEING APART OF A COMMUNITY I live in Kettering, Ohio. I have lived there all my life. It is a kind of city that even though it is big you get a small town feeling because every other person knows you.

  5. Growing up I was like any other kid, I played outside there was a ton of kids in my neighborhood . I was welcomed and well liked. Growing up

  6. Schooling for children with disabilities This was where I went to school, Gorman School. From 1924 to the early ‘90s, if you had a disability in Dayton you went to Gorman . Gorman housed about 70 students. My hometown school district, Kettering City Schools, didn’t have the tools to serve my needs. I was bussed to the district of Dayton to Gorman School. Gorman was not your average school. Everyone knew everyone else. In 1993, Gorman went to serving children with severe disabilities. The city of Kettering schools still didn’t have a program for my needs. I was bussed to another school.

  7. My other schools In 1995, I changed school districts. I went to my hometown district. I was mainstreamed in regular classes. In middle & high school I was in community service clubs. In high school I helped in the school office.

  8. Worship, Grow and Serve I go to the most Amazing church. This church has Taught me about my faith Changing LIVES Through The Transforming Power of Christ
