  1. The Teaching Lab • Several purposes: • Acoustics laboratory classes (right now only ACS 505) • Students and faculty can use (and possibly check-out) equipment for their research • Located in Research West building (next to ASB), open Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm. • Key available in the student area • Combination to open the lab door: 1+3 ; 2+4 ; 5 ; ENTER

  2. Teaching Lab general policy Use of Equipment/Check-out • Priority to class experiments • Equipment should be returned as quickly as possible • Equipment may be checked out for short-term research use only and must be recorded by the checkout scanner • All equipment is subject to immediate recall. • Check availability with the TA Return Procedure • hand it back directly to the TA (preferable) • or leave it on the TA desk but contact the TA (email or phone)

  3. Laboratory use for ACS 505 • Be cautious and careful (expensive equipment) • Check the door closes and locks (both lab and RW) • TA desk computer: • Internet access (send data files to yourself) • Floppy disk reader (data from DSA) • Basic analysis software (Excel) • Please avoid leaving your personal data files on it (they coud be deleted at any time) • You should not do your data analysis (report) on the TL computer • Sign-up Calendar on Google Calendar

  4. The Lab TA in ACS 505 Main goal: prevent you from wasting your (precious!) time in the lab • Preliminary exercise: you should first ask Poese but Shaw can help you to the best of his knowledge • Lab exercise: I’m here to help you, but you should see me mostly when: • You’re stuck • Something is not clear in the procedure • You think something weird is going on in your measurements (equipment can fail…) • I will do my best to be “at the lab” when a group has signed up, but I cannot guarantee my presence – email or call if not around
