  2. An intergovernmental organization with 28 members, established in Nov. 2012 Maximizingimpact through national planning and developing financially viable solutions Energy Water Sustainable Landscapes Green City Development Multi-Sectoral Member Countries Operations in 30 countries; staff embedded in Ministries.

GGGI works from the national planning down to developing bankable solutions across Energy, Water, Landscapes and Cities Green Impact Assessment Sector/Sub-Sector Strategy & Planning Design, Financing & Implementation Water Energy Green Cities Sustainable Landscapes • Designing the most suitable business model; securing investment for implementation • Replication of successful models at national, provincial and local level (e.g. district, municipalities) and globally (cross-country)

  4. An intergovernmental organization with 28 members, established in Nov. 2012 Financial/ Investment Advisory Seeking Financing Seeking Investment Opportunities Projects Investment Sources Government (Policies) Policy/Technical Advisory Processes/Setup

  5. Overlap between ISA and GGGI countries/operations is significant • Collaboration areas • Work program • Extending ISA membership to GGGI members • Strongly supports Government of India RE targets – • side event at RE Invest 2018 • Solar experts/countries worldwide Tropic of Cancer Tropic of Capricorn

  6. Areas of overlap between GGGI and ISA work programs are significant Mini, Offgrid Grid Energy Solar Irrigation Access to Finance • Projects • Funds • Financial Instruments Knowledge sharing across countries

  7. $120M India ACE Fund An innovative financial instrument for enhancing financing for off-grid energy Project Overview Current Gap Electrification is national priority. Off-grid sector lacks access to capital; companies/sector unable to grow. Banks unwilling to lend; no suitable product in the market. Impact • National impact: 5 million householdsobtains access to electricity. 3% of NDC and Government of India targets. • Sectoral impact: 5% of capital required for the off-grid energy sector (total $ 7 billion). • Fund is catalytic: encourage domestic FIs to lend to off-grid companies

  8. $15M Indonesia Solar Project in remote Indonesian Islands A commercially viable, replicable mini-grid solution for island states Current Gap Most power plants in NTT are diesel fueled; cost of electricity is high; power generation is polluting and supply not self-sufficient. Labuan Bajo Kalabahi Ruteng Impact Project Overview Kefamenanu Waitabula Betun Waikabubak Ba’a NTT: Remote rural islands in the southernmost province of Indonesia

  9. $50M->$200M Senegal Renewable Energy Fund A partnership between AFDB, Senegal wealth fund (FONSIS), GGGI and Govt of Senegal Current Gap • Renewables capacity is very high; however, few projects on the ground. No access to suitable finance to meet the needs of small projects. Impact Project Overview

  10. A Solar-Water Management Fund currently under design • Innovating to find optimal solution that • Gets pumps off the grid • Monitors water usage • Design to provide incentives to farmers to sell solar power to the grid • proxy for overdraft prevention • Can be combined with loans to farmers (2) Redirecting budget for loan component National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Loan administered through NABARD

  11. Fiji Solar Project on Taveuni Island Project Overview Current Gap • The Green Growth Framework for Fiji aims to reach 99% share of renewable electricity generation by 2030 while the island is highly dependent on diesel for electricity production Impact

  12. Snapshot of the current portfolio Green Cities Energy Water Sustainable Landscape Cross-cutting

  13. National Green Energy Fund, Vanuatu A consolidated fund for fostering rural energy access Partners Vanuatu is highly dependent on imported fossil fuels to power its economy and the cost of energy is very high. • Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) • Ministry of Finance (MoF) • GCF (readiness funding of US $ 370K mobilized) Current Gap Project Overview Impact • Size of the fund: US $15,000,000 • Targets63% of total 35K households without electricity • Will reach 30,000 rural clients • Good example of NFV in the pacific islands
