  1. AMS Girls Athletic Information email: ronda.coffer@granburyisd.org Coaches office: 817-408-4819

  2. General Information Physicals: • Your child cannot participate until we have their physical. • They must have their physical and all other paperwork in by the end of the 2nd week, if not they will be moved out of athletics. Absences: • Call or email the coach if your child will miss Athletics • Your child will have a makeup workout for absences • Absences can affect playing time Requirement: • Athletes must try out for at least 2 sports, they do not have to make a team, just try out.

  3. Athlete/Parent Concerns or Questions Chain of Command: Step 1 - Start with your coach, we prefer the athlete talk to their coach first, then the parent can set up a conference with the coach. We will not have conferences about playing time. Step 2 - AMS Girls Athletic coordinator – Ronda Coffer Step 3 - High school head coach: Tammy Clark - Volleyball or Coach Schmidt - Basketball Step 4 - Girls athletic director – Coach Steve Schmidt Step 5 – District Athletic Director – Dwight Butler

  4. Expectations and consequences • RESPECT. Respect yourself, your teammates, and your coaches/teachers. • BE ON TIME. Always be on time and prepared for team practice. Contact the Coaches’ Office, (817)408-4819, and leave a message if you will not be at practice. All missed practices will be made up and can also affect playing time. • ACADEMICS/BEHAVIOR. If you want to play, you must be in class and in practice. Academics is more important than sports. Failing results in suspension until the 3 week mark of the following six-weeks (UIL rule), as well as other consequences for other discipline actions taken against our athletes. Failing two consecutive Six Weeks will result in required and monitored tutorials. We expect our athletes to be the best-behaved students at AMS. If an athlete is placed in ISS, they will be suspended from play in the game that week.

  5. Game Procedures • HOME GAME PROCEDURES. We would like to have encouragement and support for Purple, Gold, and White teams. All athletes are encouraged to stay after their contests to cheer on their teammates. Athletes will call for a ride when the last game is halfway over. If the athlete is not picked up within 15 minutes, after the game, they will not be allowed to attend the next game. If the occurrence happens again, the student is subject to a more severe consequence. • AWAY GAME PROCEDURES. If an athlete plans on riding with a parent/guardian, the athlete must be signed out by the parent/guardian at the game BEFORE they leave. Athletes must be signed out by no one other than their parent/guardian. If an athlete needs to ride home with a parent other than their own, it must be approved by Mr. Dawson 24 hours in advance. If the athlete is not picked up within 15 minutes, after arrival, they will not be allowed to attend the next out of town game. If the occurrence happens again, the athlete is subject to a more severe consequence.

  6. School issued and personal property • ATHLETIC EQUIPMENT.Athletes are responsible for ALL uniforms and equipment issued by the coach. Athletes will be required to pay for the entire uniform if for some reason they aren’t able to check it in. (AMS purchases sets of uniforms, not individual pieces) *Athletic Sweats = $50 *Athletic workout Jersey/Shorts = $30 *AMS Uniforms = $50 • PERSONAL PROPERTY. We encourage our athletes to leave personal items and valuables at home or locked in their lockers. They are not to give their locker combinations to anyone, we have a record of their combination in case they forget it, and are not to share a locker with another athlete. We are not responsible for lost or stolen belongings, they should be locked up.

  7. Injuries and illness • INJURY POLICY: If an athlete is injured during the athletic period/game, we will notify the trainer, if necessary. We handle all injury reports then notify parents, but it is parent/guardian’s responsibility to make an appt w/ a GISD trainer (817-408-4655) after the injury report has been submitted. Please see the trainer before consulting a doctor unless it’s extreme/obvious circumstances. Keep us informed and be sure we have a copy of any medical documents/notes. • Your daughter is only allowed to sit out 2 consecutive DAYS with a parent note, after that she will need a note from the trainer if injured at school or a doctor note.

See practice schedule for times. • We will have 2 cuts, one on the Friday of the first week and the second one, if necessary, on the following Wednesday. • The athletes will wear spandex (AMS does not provide spandex) during practice and games. However, when they are not actually participating they will put their athletic shorts on over their spandex. For example: in between games at tournaments, after games, on their way to practice and leaving practice. • AMS has 3 teams in both 7th and 8th grade: white, purple, and gold.

  12. Basketball Information • The week after volleyball is over with, we will start basketball tryouts. This year we will start on Nov. 3, 2014. See practice schedule for times. • We will have 2 cuts, the 1st on Friday and the 2nd one, if necessary, on the following Wednesday. If we need extended time to make final cuts, we will notify the girls at that time. • AMS will have 3 teams for both 7th and 8th grade: white, gold, and purple. • The athletes will wear their issued athletic gear during practice, and will wear their issued jersey during the game. The 8th grade girls may only put on their issued athletic practice gear and sweats if they are driving straight home after practice.
