  2. 2009 In Review • January – Chris Baucom joins staff to handle WR Business Development • January – Round 2 of WRR’s launched • March – “Get Work Ready” Pilot week in high schools • April – Georgia Work Ready featured at International BIO Convention • May – Round 3 of CWRC’s launched • May – Redesigned GWR website launched • May – official opening of SPA WR center; 3 to 13 agencies using WR • May and June – first regional administrators meeting

Georgia Work Ready and ARRA • Georgia Work Ready Recovery and Reinvestment Action Plan • Be Work Ready www.begaworkready.org • For unemployed as defined by USDOL • Package consists of: • Letter from Governor • Lapel pin • Information on how to access additional funds for education and training • $100.00 pre-paid card to offset job search expenses for Work Ready Certificate or • $200.00 pre-paid card to offset job search expenses for improved score

Georgia Recovery and Reinvestment Plan • GOWD and statewide partners • 24 Golden Opportunities grants to improve Work Ready Certificate levels • 38 Georgia Libraries awarded gap training software • Gap Training grants to 54 Georgia high schools • GOWD and Local WIA working together • Basic computer training to prepare for WRC and using skills gap training • GOWD and economic development • Certified Work Ready facilities • GOWD and Weatherization • Profiling critical jobs

  7. Other GOWD Initiatives… • Microsoft® Elevate America • 25,900 electronic vouchers distributed to Georgians • Offers free training in Office and IT; and free Microsoft® certification exams • Distribution is through GWR website, 10 WIA’s and 6 Goodwill centers

Outlook for 2010 - Sustainability • CWRC’s – successful counties will be awarded grants to continue Work Ready efforts • Requiring involvement of Chambers and LDA’s • Branding of the “CWRC” logo • Business Recognition form • All goals to be posted on website (including post-cert) • WRR’s – sustainability achieved through the creation of 501c3’s and industry network sustainability through the creation of the Georgia Work Ready Regional Industry Network • Legislation…
