History of medical marijuana The history of medical marijuana dates back to the era of the mystical Emperor ShenNeng of China around 2737 B.C., who was known to prescribe marijuana to those suffering from malaria, rheumatism and sometimes to people suffering from poor memory. This wonderful use of this herb spread throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa, it went as far as being used for religious and stress relieving purposes by Indian and Nepalese Hindu sects. Since then, a lot of physicians have prescribed marijuana for everything from childbirth to ear ache. The importance of using marijuana for medical use cannot be overrated. Treatment of neurodegenerative diseases These diseases affect millions of people all over the world and for years, normal drugs failed to give relieve for the disease. It also got to points where some patients were left to their own fate. When patients who used marijuana began to feel better, researchers found this improvement to be linked to marijuana use. Multiple Sclerosis research found that THC and other cannabinoids in marijuana targets the inflammation causing cells which is produced by the immune system, thereby, relieving muscle stiffness in patients, improving their general well-being. In Parkinson disease sufferers, marijuana has been known to reduce symptoms associated with it which includes tremors, slow movements and rigid muscles. Some patients who have been using marijuana as a means of treatment have recorded tremendous improvement, getting them back to the lives they lived before the disease struck.

  5. Cancer Treatment All United States legalized states, used cancer treatment as the reason they legalized marijuana use for medical purposes. This in fact was researched to be true. It reduces nausea, vomiting, pain and loss of appetite in patients suffering from the effects of chemotherapy. Pharmaceuticals have begun infusing their drugs with THC and other cannabinoids to improve the potency of their drugs in the treatment of cancer and HIV/ AIDS. Apart from relieving the symptoms of chemotherapy, marijuana has been known to slow down or totally stop the growth of tumours. Cannabidiol is responsible for this and it also reduces the pains associated with tumour inflammation. These Cannabidiols block cell growth of tumours, stopping blood supply flow, leading to the death of these tumour cells.
