  1. Excel Spreadsheet Workbooks for Doing Statistical Reports PART I Downloading and Understanding your Spreadsheet Workbooks

  2. Excel Spreadsheet Record Keeping Excel spreadsheets are an optional alternative method of record keeping to prepare for the electronic SIS Statistical Report.

  3. Using the Excel Worksheets to complete the Monthly Elementary Statistical Report The Attendance and Enrollment Section has agreed to accept a print-out of Teacher Control Cards and Grade Span Control Cards as accountable record keeping for the Statistical Report.

Excel Spreadsheets • Excel Spreadsheets take the place of the paper pencil use of teacher control cards and grade span summary control cards. • To use the spreadsheets, personnel should either have a knowledge of spreadsheet use, or invest the time to learn how to use spreadsheets. • If you do NOT know how to use spreadsheets, but wish to learn, you can sign up for classes at the following Address: http://www.lausd.k12.ca.us/lausd/offices/update/introductory.htm Choose “Intro to Spreadsheets”. • Once customized and used, the spreadsheets save time, effort and increase accuracy. • It is NOT optional to keep and maintain records. (Either printed spreadsheets or manual control card records must be kept for audit purposes.)

  6. Creating a Folder to hold your Spreadsheet Records You can right click on your mouse anyplace on your desktop. Choose New and then Folder. Place your cursor on the folder and right click again to Rename the folder.

  7. Download Workbooks and/or Workspaces to your new folder for your school or track. The first zipped file is for most schools. The second zipped file is for LARGE schools with grade spans having more than 15 teachers on a track or span.

End of Part I -- • By now you should be able to create a folder on your desktop or another place of your choosing. • You should be able to download the Excel Workbooks or Workspaces into your folder. • In Part II of the presentation you will learn about the different parts of the Workbook, how to customize them for your school or track, and how to use them to prepare for the Elementary SIS Statistical Report. • If you wish to view the second half of this presentation, exit this presentation by clicking on the X in the box on the upper right hand corner of your screen.
