It might be true, but for most people, the decision to take up was difficult. In fact, many students don't make up their minds until they apply to law school. And even then, some might still have doubts until they attend classes. While there is nothing wrong with not having a concrete answer to the question, "Do you want to be a lawyer?" before you apply for law school, there are some benefits in consulting with practicing attorneys and even interning at a law firm to get a sense of what is expected. The value of doing these is to get insights into a lawyer's work. You may not understand everything that happens, but you can, at the very least, see the expectations leveled on a lawyer in their daily work. Michael LeRoy is the managing partner at Fulmer LeRoy & Albee, which is a law firm that specializes in providing legal defense to businesses and individuals in Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale. LeRoy and the firm's partners started the business eight years ago. Back then, LeRoy was fresh from attaining his Juris Doctorate from Florida State University College of Law and has ambitions of practicing in Florida. The team is comprised of experienced attorneys and young graduates eager to learn the trade. For the latter, the decision to pursue law can be tough because a lawyer’s daily workload fluctuates. There is no standard definition of a lawyer thanks to the many specialties that have come up. For every specialty an attorney chooses, there are differences in the work required and compensation. Within the legal profession abound many other “professions.” Perhaps one of the best ways to make a decision is to consider the skills required to thrive as a lawyer. Lawyers are in the people business, which means they have to enjoy working with people from different backgrounds. It is through client contact that lawyers understand the needs of the people that ask for legal advice in various areas of their lives. The client will perceive their issue as being serious, thus may require a professional who can understand the urgency of the matter.
