What is Cloud Computing? • Varying Definitions and Interpretations • Isn’t it “free”? • All services are available in the cloud, right? • Well, almost! • What about security? • We have a “private” cloud • We use the “public” cloud • What about policy, governance and privacy? • Thank goodness for iCloud……. “Cloud is about how you do computing, not where you do computing” Paul Maritz, CEO of VMware

Cloud “Security” • UNC has no formal legal stance on cloud computing. • Remember way back when (2-3 years) when security was at the forefront of everything we did? • “Drop-box” type of applications. • Leak Prevention shows flaws • Sense of helplessness when attempting to address security concerns • Who signs the contract?
