  1. Volcanoes By Josh

  2. Where do Volcanoes typically erupt? Volcanoes usually erupt over hotspots and near The Ring of Fire. The ring of fire is where 75% of the worlds volcanoes are.

  3. How often do Volcanoes erupt? In the past few years volcanoes have erupted from 40 to 70 times per year.

  4. What features of the Earth are directly involved with volcanoes? • The features of the Earth that are directly involved with volcanoes are Volcanic Gasses, Molten rock, Tectonic plates, Dissolved gasses, and Pressure

  5. What usually happens when volcanoes erupt? • When volcanoes erupt new land is created when the lava cools. • The ash cloud causes pollution of the air. • The lava kills wildlife and trees. The plants are killed by the falling ash because they need sunlight to make food

  6. What is the worst thing that could happen when volcanoes erupt? • The worst thing that could happen when volcanoes are lava burning everything in its path. Gas and/or ash makes it hard to breathe. Also fires destroying animals and homes.

  7. What type of measurement scale is used to classify volcanic eruptions? • The Volcanic Explosivity Index Chris Newhall of the U.S. Geological Survey and Stephen Self at the University of Hawaii in 1982.

  8. Key Terms • Volcanic gasses – are a combination of many gases like oxygen and carbon dioxide and other gasses • Molten rock – is rock that is so hot it becomes a liquid • Dissolved gasses – are the gases that make up volcanic gasses • Pressure – the force of something pushing on something else • The Ring of Fire – the area where most volcano eruption happen
