  2. It seems like everyone's talking about the Internet these days. But what is it really? How does it work? How do you access it? And most important, what can it do for you at work or at home?

A few reasons why people use the internet as a resource… • To find general information about a subject . • To access information not easily available elsewhere. • To keep in touch with far away friends. • To meet new people. • To discuss their interests with like-minded people . • To learn. • To read the news. • Work/School related purposes. • To SHOP! …..etc.

  4. Search Engines Exactly what is a search engine? Basically, a search engine is a software program that searches for sites based on the words that you choose as search terms. Search engines look through their own databases of information in order to find what it is that you are looking for. Google, is the most popular search engine, it is a tool for finding resources on the World Wide Web. Google scans web pages to find instances of the keywords you have entered in the search box. Google not only provide search engine results, but translation, news groups, news search, image search, paid ads, g mail etc.

  5. On an average day, about 94 million American adults use the internet. Here is the proportion of that daily population who are doing some well-known internet activities.

  6. I use the internet on a daily basis to keep in touch with friends. I can chat, email, and stay updated on there happenings. I also use the internet daily for online classes and for those classes I use it to search for resources on homework assignments. It is faster, easier, and more reliable then any other resource. But most of all I use it for facebook. An obsession that has led millions of people to keep in touch with their past and their future.

  7. The Internet today is a way to transfer and share information. On the whole, it is a benefit to the education of individuals of all kinds. We do have problems surrounding the Internet that need to be solved, but as with all new technologies there are debates and opinions that affect the surrounding communities. Since the Internet technology is spreading, it will soon become as popular as all other forms of communication. If you have not tried t, do so. It changes the way you obtain and distribute information.
