  2. KS3 Mathematics • Numbers of Class/Class Size • Numbers of lesson in a fortnight • Assessment • Homework • Resources • Extra curricular activity

  3. Numbers of Class / Class size • 7 classes • top set – 30 or above students • middle set – 30 or above students • lower set – under 20 students

  4. Numbers of lesson in a fortnight • six lessons • Each lesson is an hour long

  5. Assessment • every half term • at the end of the academic year

  6. Assessment Autumn - First half term : 7 weeks – Statistics w/c 21st October – Statistics Assessment Autumn - Second half term 7 weeks – Number w/c 16th December – Number Assessment Spring - First half term : w/c 10th March – Algebra Assessment Summer - Second half term End of Year Exams

  7. Homework • Set three pieces of homework in a fortnight • Each homework task should last about 30 minutes

  8. Resources • Textbook • My Maths • Maths watch • BBC websites

  9. Extra Curricular Activity • Junior Maths Challenge in May • Maths Gifted and Talented • World Maths Day in March

  12. Common Questions Q – Is my daughter set in Maths ? A – Yes. With Exception: Year 7 students will set after the first half term

  13. Common Questions Q – Will my daughter be able to move sets? A – After each assessment, we monitor the student’s progress and set changes will occur where suitable
