  6. It is a mental attitude love based on the perfect, harmonious relationship Christ has with the Father.

  7. “I have also loved you”, Jesus turns from discussing the Father’s love for Him to His love for those who are His disciples. (Relationship)

  8. AGAPAO Aorist, Active, Indicative, First Person, Singular - Referring to all the disciples who abide in Christ and stresses the fact of occurrence, not its nature.

  9. The love Christ has for His disciples is past, present, and continues for all time.

  10. Principle: This love is founded on the principle of propitiation, providing positional truth and sanctification.

  11. Yet this passage takes it a step further, where the emphasis of Christ’s love is on the “disciple” not just all believers.

  12. It is emphasizing the love of Christ for those who are abiding in Him, those who are occupied with the person and Word of Jesus Christ.

  13. “Abide in My love”, MENO in the Aorist, Active, Imperative, Second Person, Plural. It’s an order directly from our Lord to remain in the sphere of His love.

  14. EN AGAPE, the Dative of Sphere. A mental attitude love, which is free from all sinfulness; minus mental attitude sins.

  15. John 15:9, “Even as the Father has, does and will forever love Me, I also love you all; You all abide in the sphere of My love.”
