  2. January 10, 2014 Holes chapters 8-10 Homework: Work on unit 3 vocabulary. Test and assignments due on Friday January 17th! Read chapters 11-17 in Holes. Quiz on chapters 8-17 on Monday! Objective: I can identify rising action events in a text. Warm Up (in your composition book) Copy today's date and the objective into your comp book. In your notes, draw a copy of the plot diagram and label all the parts.

  3. Exposition introduction of setting and main characters

  4. Central conflict the problem around which the story revolves

  5. Rising action events that build suspense as the plot moves toward the climax

  6. Review questions... Chapter 7 Is being unable to shovel dirt the only way in which Stanley feels like he is defective? Why or why not? Explain your answer. What does Stanley learn from digging his first hole? Why do you think he feels proud when his hole is finished?

  7. We will now read chapters 8-10 together as a class. Once we finish chapter 9, I will give you a quote for a double entry journal response...Remember... Every pirate claims really quality coins!

  10. Homework: Get a copy of Holes Unit 3 roots, questions and definitions due on tomorrow.
