  2. Purpose of this evening • to inform parents of the changes in our annual reporting system • to explain our rationale for these changes • to demonstrate how parents can access their child's report • to answer any questions you might have concerning the new arrangements

How to Access your Child's Report • You will access your child's reports on 'The Markbook' through 'The Gateway‘ • This is a system whereby your child's reports are stored on the ESF system for the entire duration of your child's education from year 1 to year 13 • The school will not provide you with a printed copy of a report however you have the ability to print off your child's report whenever you wish

  5. Passwords • Your Gateway username has been emailed to you today. Please access The Gateway ASAP and reset your own password if necessary.

  6. Reading the Sections of the Report Units of Inquiry • Rubrics - three levels • Covers the lines of inquiry and two transdisciplinary skills • Final Unit's rubric will be available at the end of term Specialist Subjects, Maths and English • Four levels - Beginning, Consolidating, Proficient and Extending • Beginning - achieved below year level expectation • Consolidating - achieved year level expectation with some areas that need work • Proficient - achieved year level expectation • Extending - achieved above year level expectation

Reading the sections of the report Specialist Subjects, Maths and English • Key learning outcomes aligned to IB PYP scope and sequence • Additional comments highlight next steps the Overall Comment • Focuses on personal and social development linked to learner profile attributes, attitudes and approaches to learning 

  8. Portfolios • The Student Portfolio major part of reporting • Shared during the 3-Way conferences and other more informal opportunities • Sent home during the last week of term

  9. Reporting - The Future The Gateway will enable: • An ongoing process of assessing and reporting of your child's progress throughout the school year. • Access regular updates • The ability for you the parent to report / comment on your child's progress • The ability for your child to self-reflect on their progress as well!

  10. Gateway - Other Uses The Gateway not only provides you with your child's report, it will:  • Also serve as a valuable line of communication for ALL school events via the 'Bulletin' board. • Allow you to book your child into after school clubs and activities • Allow you to 'give permission' for your child to attend camps / excursions / day trips etc. (no more missing letters from student's school bags)
