  • early 1990s, concern about numeracy (LSUDA 1989 and IALS 1994)

  • Norwegian Social Science Data Archive (NSD) developed NSDstat for Norwegian high schools

  • E-stat is STC’s attempt to encourage introduction of statistics into high school curriculum

  • first E-stat on cd-rom, ca 1995
