  2. How Tanning Beds work • Tanning beds have 2 different types of bulbs, UVB, and UVA • There are fewer UVB lights than UVA • UVB lights are the ones that cause the melanin in the skin to cause you to get tan • If you tan indoor you have a 74% higher chance of getting skin cancer

  3. Effects • Every year, more than 68,000 people are diagnosed with melanoma. About 10 percent will die • Kids that start tanning at an early age will have a higher risk of getting diagnosed with melanoma

  4. History • tanning beds were initially brought to America by Friedrich Wolff in 1979
