  1. Surgical Nursing By Jenny Tully

  2. My Site so Far • I chose to make a site on surgical nursing, explaining my interest in possibly pursuing a career in it in the future.

  3. What my Site Contains • The whole purpose for my site is for it to be about a specific topic (surgical nursing), where people can then find links and other things about the subject. • Hopefully, if someone for instance googles “surgical nursing” my site will come up.

  4. Why did I decide on this? • I decided to make my site a sort of hub for surgical nursing because I think it presents an area that people may not know that much about and this provides a way to access pertinent info all in one place. • I’ve started by providing general links to info on surgical nursing including roles/responsibilities and education requirements.

  5. Also, when I was researching the subject, I really could not find a lot of info through general searches, so I thought it would be better to have all the good information I could find in one spot.

  6. My Links • My links right now are: http://www.aorn.org http://www.careersandcolleges.com/cnc/articles/view.do?cat=cnc.c.careers-in-health-medicine&article=a-glimpse-at-the-profession-surgical-nursing http://www.certboard.org/ https://vic.pvhs.org/portal/page?_pageid=333,427510&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&pagid=141

  7. AORN • This website is the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses • This is a general site with information on education to become a perioperative nurse, career info, etc.

  8. Careers & Colleges Article • This article from the careers and colleges website gives a great overview of what a surgical nurse does, as well as skills and roles of a surgical nurse. • It lists some of the things surgical nurses do, as well as requirements to become a surgical nurse & employment opportunities.

  9. Certboard Site • On this site, one can find information on how to achieve certification as a CNOR (certified nurse for the operating room) & a CRNFA (certified nurse first assistant) • It also provides news & resources for these certifications as well as general news & articles on surgical nursing.

  10. Info on Types of Surgical Nurses • My last link gives a great overview of the different types of nurses before, during, and after surgery and the specific roles they play in taking care of patients. When I started looking into this subject, I found this to be a really helpful summary of nurses in the surgical setting as I didn’t know of the different types before I came across this site.

  11. Link Summary So, these links are just a start, but I found all of them extremely helpful, and all of them offer good information for someone who is looking for it. I think having them all in one place is extremely useful.

  12. My Blog My blog could be an extremely useful tool because: • I could post my possible future experiences in surgical nursing on it. • Could provide great first-hand accounts and experiences for others. • Can also be a great way to provide links, forums, articles, videos etc. that I find on surgical nursing. • Also provide links to other blogs on the subject.

  13. Other Things I Did • I tried to use a font that was big enough for people to read, but not obnoxious. • I created a secondary page with the links discussed above specific to my topic. • I have a link to my blog from the webpage to allow easy access. • I also provided a link to my website on my blog.

  14. THE END!!!
