  5. Gradually a gap developed between ‘building’ and ‘dwelling’

  6. Later, as economies developed, a gap opened up between ‘designing’ and ‘building’

  7. Industrialisation created a market for ever more specialised design services: • Engineers: specialists in new materials and structure • Architects: specialists in art

  8. Post world war two, a market for town planning was developed: • Architects: move even more into the art camp • Planners: specialists in social and management issues
