  1. Which liquid heats up faster? Beer with 5%,Beer with 5.2% Alcohol, Isopropyl with 70% Alcohol ,or Water Names: Chue Vang School: Computech Middle School ABSTRACT In my experiment I tested water, beer with alcohol 5%, beer 5.2% alcohol, and Isopropyl with 70% alcohol. I heated up all of the liquids and I did 5 trials for each of them.. Summary My results were that water heated the slowest. Beer with 5.2% alcohol heated the third slowest. Beer with 5% alcohol heated the 2nd slowest and isopropyl with 70% alcohol heated the fastest. METHODS For my project, I needed a pot, thermometer, measuring cup, stove, stopwatch, Isopropyl with 70% alcohol, beer with 5% alcohol, beer with 5.2% alcohol, and water. I measured all the liquids to 1 cup. The stove temperature was on high. Then I put the liquid into the pot which is on the stove. After that I put the thermometer in the pot and turn the stove on high. Then I wait 90 seconds before I stop heating the liquid and look at the temperature. I experimented with each liquid 5 times. CONCLUSION or DISCUSSION or APPLICATIONS My results were probably off, even though I tried to be exact. I learned that isopropyl with 70% alcohol is the fastest heater and if somewhat we would use all kinds of liquids to boil, I would use isopropyl with 70% alcohol. My speculation would be that wine would heat up slower than isopropyl unless wine has more alcohol in it. I would test these like how I tested my project. My errors were being off by 3 seconds or start the heating before I timed. I fixed those by paying more attention. INTRODUCTION Boiling is the conversion of a liquid to a vapor when the vapor pressure of the liquid equals the atmospheric pressure. Question and Hypothesis The purpose of my research was to see if isopropyl with 70% alcohol would heat up faster. I thought of this as my hypothesis because alcohol is flammable.
