  1. HIL Connector An introduction to the new HIL wire-to-wire, crimp style connector series.

  2. HIL Connector Many applications require a wire-to-wire connector that offers engineers design flexibility, keying, positive inertia lock and protection from incomplete mating. The HIL Series wire-to-wire, crimp-style connectors are on a 3.3mm (.130”) pitch, molded in a RoHS compliant, UL 94V-0 PA 66 nylon. Rated at 5A AC/DC (2 circuits, using 18AWG) at 300V AC/DC. The series has an operating temperature range of -25 to +85 C including temperature rise when applying an electrical current. The series is offered in 2~4, 6 & 8 circuit sizes.

  3. HIL Connectorcrimp style wire-to-wire contact The HIL contacts, are designed to accommodate a wire range of 22AWG to 18AWG, are tin-plated over a copper alloy base material. The box construction ensures stable contact performance, positive electrical connection and low contact resistance at all times even when subjected to vibration and distortion. The suggested wire strip length for the wire is 3.1mm.

  4. HIL Connector crimp style wire-to-wire plug & receptacle housings Molded in a PA 66, UL 94V-0 rated nylon, the keyed ZPD Series housings incorporate a secure, positive locking device that prevents accidental disconnection. Available in 2~4, 6 & 8 circuits. The locking mechanism is designed to allow the user to press down easily and, while grasping the wire for stability, release the assembly from the mating connector. An audible click is heard and felt when mating the housings. The contact cavities are numbered for easy identification.

  5. HIL Connector Housing Features “Keying” HILP-08V-1-S HILP = HIL Plug Hsg.-08 V = 8 Position-1 = Keying Pattern-S = Color HILR-08VF-1-S HILR = HIL Receptacle Hsg.-08VF = 8 Position-1 = Keying Pattern-S = Color The HIL Series offers three keying variations. The keying is both physical [keys and keyways (1, 2, 3)] and visual [natural (S), red (R) and blue (E)].

  6. HIL Connector Housing Features “Housing Lance” Removing the locking lance from the contact and putting it in the contact cavity removes the possibility of damaging the locking lance which is the leading cause of “contact back out”.

  7. HIL Connector Housing Features “Retainer” The “retainer” provides the user with added assurance that contacts are properly seated in the housing and assures the contact will not back out of the housing even if the housing lace failed. An added benefit of the retainer is it acts as true positioning devise for the contacts. This maintains proper alignment of the pins and sockets, helping to lower mating forces.

  8. HIL Connector Housing Features “Inertia Lock” The “Inertia Lock” is designed so that the pin and socket do not make contact, until the locking of the housings is accomplished. This eliminates any chance of incomplete mating of the plug and receptacle housings and intermittent electrical connection of the contacts.

  9. THE HIL SERIES IS ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING FREINDLY JST Bench press and applicator for the HIL Series Industry standard applicator for the HIL Series Applicators are available for semi-automatic and fully automatic termination equipment normally found in the manufacturing environment as well as standard hand tools. There is also JST semi-automatic bench presses and applicators. The HIL Series contacts come on reels of 5,000 pieces for use with semi-automatic and fully automatic termination equipment.

  10. THE HIL SERIES SUMMARY • The HIL wire-to-wire connector system: • Three keying/color options • Reliable contact construction ideal for low current, low voltage conditions • Available in 2~4, 6 and 8 positions • Applicable AWG #24 to 18 • Secure, positive inertia locking feature • Dual contact locking – housing lance and retainer • Supported with termination tooling for manufacturing requirements.
