ZXC10-BSS Overview • The ZXC10 CDMA cellular mobile communication system is a new-generation (3G) digital cellular mobile communication system developed by ZTE on the basis of IS-2000 standards with the purpose of catering to the above requirements. • The ZXC10-BSS is the core part of a CDMA2000 digital cellular mobile communication system developed according to IS-2000 . ---The interface between BSS and MS (Mobile Station) is Um interface; and the interface between BSS and LE (Local exchange) is A-interface. ---The BSS mainly performs the function of information interaction in the air with MSs, and supports high-speed packet data services at a rate of up to 153.6kbps.

System Working Principle(1) • One of the biggest characteristics of CDMA BSS system is that service/signaling switching between subsystems or modules is not in the traditional circuit switching mode but in the high-speed packet data network switching mode. ---- Hence the system provides the functions of flexible structure and convenient addition of functional modules. It can satisfy the switching requirement of voice communications and adapt to high-speed multimedia data services. Hence it realizes convenient transition to 3G system.

  12. System Working Principle(2) • The network structure of CDMA BSS is of two levels: ---The first level is HIRS subsystem in BSC, which is called “big HIRS”. It is the packet data switching center of the system. ---The second level is the packet data switching network with relatively low speed formed in SVBS or BDS subsystem, which is called “small HIRS”. It mainly provides packet data switching services for modules in SVBS or BDS subsystem

  13. System Logical Structure Sub-system Moudle/ Board BSS comprises BSC and BTS. In logic, BSC and BTS are two systems in cooperation to provide services for CDMA mobile subscribers. In hardware, these are two different physical entities in different positions in the telecom network.

  14. ZXC10-BSS Features • 1. Advanced ness: The system makes use of a lot of advanced technologies, for example high-speed packet switching. • 2. Forward compatibility: The system is designed by fully considering the transition to the third-generation (3G) mobile communication system. High-speed packet data services can evolve smoothly to 2M. • 3. High integrity: ZXC10-BSS makes usage of a lot of advanced components to improve system integrity and reduce board types and amount. • 4. High reliability: The amount of boards in the system is reduced. Important boards of the system adopt 1+1 or N+1 redundancy configuration and software error tolerance design. System reliability is highly improved. • 5. Configuration flexibility: In addition to supporting traditional networking modes, ZXC10-BSS also realizes the daisy chain connection mode for up to 6 BTSs. According to the requirements, each BTS can be configured into 1TRX/1-sector to 4TRX/3-sectors. • 6. Supporting rich service types: ZXC10-BSS supports voice calls (8K, 13K, 8K EVRC voice coding), test calls (Markov call, Loop back call, TDSO call), data calls, circuit-type data services (asynchronous data and G3 fax), and supplementary services.

  15. BSS System Technical Performance(1) • 1. It adopts the packet switching network structure and provides 128 full-duplex ports. The rate of each port is 8 Mbps; • 2. It provides the radio resource management and BTS monitoring functions to implement BSS operation and maintenance management and BTS tests; • 3. It supports star, chain and ring networking of BTS and provides the daisy chain connection function of BTS; • 4. It supports 8KQCELP, 13KQCELP and EVRC algorithms and provides strong background noise suppression ability; • 5. It supports data calls originated by MS, LE or PDSN. It supports circuit-type data services (asynchronous data and G3 fax) and high-speed packet data services of up to 153.6kbps; • 6. It can provide up to 240 E1s to be connected with LE; • 7. It can support up to 7200 selectors/vocoders; • 8. Its maximum traffic processing ability is up to 5040Erl; • 9. It can be connected with up to 380 BTSs;

  16. BSS System Technical Performance(2) • 10. The maximum amount of PPP connections supported by packet data reaches 40,000; • 11. The channel board supports the sharing of all sector channel units at the same carrier frequency; • 12. It supports forward/reverse power control; • 13. It supports macro-cellular, micro-cellular and Pico cellular; • 14. It supports a variety of soft handover modes: intra-BTS soft handover, intra-BSC soft handover, and inter-BSC soft handover; • 15. It supports the cell breathing function to ensure the service quality of busy cells; • 16. It supports cell shrinkage and expansion; • 17. It supports the frequency configuration of Band Class 0 (800MHz cellular frequency band)、Band Class 1(1900MHz PCS frequency band)和Band Class 5(450M frequency band).
