  3. External Structures & Words to Know Anterior- head end of body Posterior- tail end of body Dorsal- back side Ventral- under side Setae- hair-like bristles that aid in movement Clitellum- swelling seen in sexually mature worms that forms eggs

Pharynx- section after the mouth Esophagus- section after the pharynx that leads to the crop Aortic arches-5 “hearts” that transport blood through the body Crop- stores food Gizzard- grinds up food mixture Intestines- tube where food is digested & nutrients are absorbed. It leads to the anus Septa- threadlike structures that hold the skin to organs Internal Structures & Words to Know
