    2. What is CAIS? Electronic system for LEAs to organize their ongoing monitoring evidence and communicate electronically internally and with CDE How does this change CPM? CAIS does not change the established CPM process but the system allows the LEA to maintain monitoring documents throughout the year; for CDE to review documents prior to onsite visits and/or desktop reviews; allows for targeted technical assistance LEAs upload electronic copies rather than providing hard copies in file boxes CAIS Training 2

    4. How is CAIS Organized? CAIS is customized to display the program instruments monitored at the LEA each school year. LEAs may track previous year’s monitoring activity and access documentation across years. Instrument pages display information about the current status of the review for that program and certain links to individual item pages where evidence is uploaded CAIS Training 4

    5. Deciding what documents to upload: CAIS is no different than deciding what to copy and put into former “CPM Boxes”. However, you want to be sure you are uploading the documents that specifically pertain to the CPM item and not every document you think can pertain to the item CAIS Training 5

    6. Three Types of Evidence: Statute specifies evidence Statute does not specify evidence, however, LEAs typically submit “X” document(s) Evidence varies greatly, thus, each LEA determines the evidence that it believes is responsive to the legal requirement CAIS Training 6
