The society, IEEE, includes: • 395,000+ members in 160 countries. • 38 technical societies and 7 technical councils that operate globally. • 331 geographical sections, organized in regions • Sometimes with councils, chapters, affinity groups Paul B. Our Vision: IEEE will be essential to the global technical community and to technical professionals everywhere, and be universally recognized for the contributions of technology and of technical professionals in improving global conditions. Our Three to Five Year Goals (Goals are outcome-oriented statements that represent what will constitute the organization’s future success.) • Industry professionals and their employers will value IEEE products and services, membership and participation as a major resource to achieve success. • IEEE will improve the professional competencies of students and professionals through education. • IEEE will increasingly be valued by the global community as a catalyst for a balanced dialogue on technology-related issues. • The public will increasingly value the role of IEEE and technical professionals in enhancing the quality of life and the environment. • IEEE members and volunteers will increasingly find value and enjoyment through their involvement in the organization. • IEEE will operate as a model global association, with aligned purpose, energy, and infrastructure that facilitates the development and execution of coordinated strategy.
