  2. Physical Features of the Earth First Grade

  3. Objectives • Students will gain knowledge of the physical features of earth (hill, lake, river, mountain, forest).

  4. Materials • Two pictures of each physical feature (lake, river, hill, mountain, forest) • Index cards with names of physical features.

  5. Student Activities • Students will be given multiple pictures of each physical feature. • Students will be given the name of each feature written on an index card. • Students will match the name of each Physical feature to the picture of each physical feature

  6. Lake

  7. A lake is a large body of inland water.

  8. River

  9. A river is a large natural stream of water.

  10. Hill

  11. A hill is a rounded elevation of land, smaller than a mountain.

  12. Mountain

  13. A mountain is a land mass that rises above it’s surroundings and is higher than a hill.

  14. Forest

  15. A forest is a growth of trees covering a large area.
