  4. Summarizing a story means telling the story in a short way. Make sure to tell the important parts. It may help to think about where the story takes place. It may help to think about the beginning, middle and end. It may help to think about who the story is about.

  5. The theme of a story is a big idea you can learn from reading and thinking about the story. What might happen in your life that can help you understand the big idea? What does the author want you to know? Do the characters learn a lesson?

  6. The big idea is…. Some things will change when you move, but the important things will stay the same.

  7. The big idea is…. It is okay to do things in your own time.

  8. The big idea is…. Nothing stays the same. Everything can change.

  9. Knowing about the theme will help you become a super reader!
