  2. ? Question ? • How can we as graduation coaches and coordinators get the family members more involved in the education of their children?

  3. Parent Conferences • Every 8-9 weeks • At least 10-15 minutes each time • Speak with teachers before hand to know what is going on with the student • Strive for 100 %

  4. Parent Workshops • Financial Aid night • Use local resources, colleges, etc. • Computer night • Kids help parents • Socials • Keep things light

  5. Fundraising • Inform parents ahead of time (use email/call) • Keep it simple • Make it fun

  6. Events • Inform parents ahead of time • Give them a job, let them have ‘buy in’ • Find something they can ‘do’

  7. Newsletters • Make them interesting • Keep them simple • Not to long (they will not read it) • INFORMATIVE (make sure info is relevant) PLC Pulse ‘Rock to Our Beat’

  8. Emails • Great way to stay in contact • Make sure they check their email on regular basis before you send things • Good way to send newsletters out

  9. Phone Calls • At least once a week, someone needs to contact • Call with good news, even if small • Know as much as possible before you call • Start off with good news even if you have bad

  10. ? Question ? • How can we as graduation coaches and coordinators get the community more involved in the education of the children?

  11. Newspaper/Media • Invite to everything • Keep them updated on students • Send in accomplishments

  12. Community Involvement • GET OUT OF THE OFFICE • GET INTO THE COMMUNITY

Community Involvement • Go out and make contacts at local business’s • Get to know the business and WHAT they can do for you. • Get information out there (flyers) • Pass cards out to EVERYONE • Keep good contact list • Stay in contact with people • Send them the newsletter • Don’t always ask for something when you see them • Involve with service learning

  14. Community Involvement • Invite community and business to your facility for meetings, speakers, etc

  15. Community Involvement • Get your kids out in the community
