  3. Attribute: The main character is a detective and is trying to find a serial killer which makes this novel a mystery. “The suspect lived, worked, had ties to downtown Manhattan. The suspect frequented shops, restaurants, businesses in that sector in order to scout out targets. The suspect used various enhancers to alter his appearance during his meets with potential victims” (174). “The lights the techs had set up washed white over the shadows. Through them, she saw Morris coming toward her. Major, she thought again, for the chief medical examiner to be called on scene. And she saw it in his face, the tightness of concern” (9). “As her eyes wheeled around the room she saw monitors, screens, cameras, and tables holding metal trays. There were sharp things on the trays. Sharp, terrifying things. As her body began to shake, her mind wanted to deny, to reject. Tears leaked when she twisted and writhed in a desperate attempt to free herself” (267).

Attribute: This novel is a mystery because the main character encounters dead ends and set backs while she try’s to find the victims before they end up dead. “I made himblack sedan, couldn’t get the plate, but I think we can pop on the model, maybe the year. I might’ve been able to get more, maybe even have managed to box him in if that jerk hadn’t run out in the street. I had to control the vehicle or else crash into the limo that bumped the jerk and crashed into an ATV in front of me” (218). “If you’d given me this yesterday, given me his name, you might have spared Ariel twenty-four hours of pain” Pella just turned his head away and closed his eyes. “We all have pain” (300-301). “When she reached down to grab his wrist, to pull his arm behind his back, he turned his hand, closed it over hers. She felt the prick, cursed. “Jerk tranq’d me.” She aimed her weapon mid-body, fired a stream. Then her legs buckled and sent her to her knees” (313).

  6. EVALUATION: Is Creation In Death a good example of a futuristic mystery? Creation In Death is a great example of futuristic mystery. The year is 2060 and J.D. Robb has done and excellent job at making it different from the present. She incorporates thinks called droids, and ‘links. And also has an Auto chef in every room in the story, where you can just program in what every you want to eat or drink and wait for it to be ready. Robb also does a great job at creating a mystery. There’s a serial killer back in Manhattan for the second time in the past 20 years or so. The killer is torturing victims and then murdering them. The detectives will not let him get away this time though. They work them selves into exhaustion till they catch the guy and send him in for life and give him the death penalty. In the end the killer is caught and the detectives manage to save the last victim before the killer is finished with her. And everyone breathes a sigh of relief at the fact that its all over, and that they can finally go home and get some sleep.
