Literature Circles • Students choosetheir own reading materials • Groups -small temporary groups based on the choice of book • Different groups read different books • Groups meet on a regular, predictable schedule • Kids use written or drawn notes to guide reading & discussion • Kids develop their own discussion topics

  27. Literature Circles • Group meetings -open, natural conversations • Teacher’s main job is not to teach, but to support, organize, and manage. • Evaluation- teacher observation and student self-evaluation • Students form NEW groups around NEW reading choices

  29. TRAINING!!!! Practicing READING everyday is exercise for the brain. Don’t expect to win the race IF you haven’t practiced!
