FERPAWhat is it? • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Also known as the Buckley Amendment • Legislation passed 1974 • Gave College Students the right to review their records and have them kept private • Colleges are legally not allowed to release academic records to anyone but the student
