Germany • 1) Germany is well known for its meat and dairy • 2) Until the middle ages the majority of their diet was meat and dairy • 3) Smoking, salting and marinating were popular methods for preserving their meat  • 4) During the 8th century a large amount of fruits and veggies were recorded as being cultivated in Germany • 5) Food in the north resembles Scandinavian food and the southern cuisine resembles Italian cuisine

Austria • 1) Austrians are ethnically diverse so there are different types of food • 2) They include the Dutch, Swiss, Spanish, French, Turkish, German, Croatian, Hungarian, Italian, Slovakian and others • 3) In the south eastern areas the food is more influenced by the Italians • 4) In the lower part of Austria the food is more influenced by middle eastern and oriental cuisine, including saffron gravy and a type of the Oriental baklava • 5) In Vienna the cuisine is influenced by Spain and food influenced when the country was under a monarch rule

  4. Switzerland • 1) They incorporate food from Italy, France, and Germany • 2) Pies and tarts are just as important as the main course • 3) The Swiss are well known for their cheese • 4) They are also well known for their chocolate • 5) Fruits and Veggies are used often in their food
