  2. Greek Introduction • I’m going to introduce you to Greek Mythology. Greek Mythology is ways that the Greek thought how the Earth and its ways happened. Almost all of the Greek Myths haven’t been proven to bescientifically real. Greeks thoughtmuch different than our scientists do. The Greek Myth that almost everyone has heard is Zeus.

  3. Greek Geography Greece is located in the continent Europe. All of the seas that surround Greece are the Mediterranean Sea, Ionian Sea, Sea of Crete, and Aegean Sea. The countries that border Greece areTurkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Albania. Greece’s national capital is Athens. Athens held the Summer Olympics in 2004.That was the most recent time the Olympics have been held in Athens, Greece.

  4. Mythology Family Tree • The Greek Mythology family tree starts with Chaos and then goes to Uranus. Then Mother Earth gave birth to the three Cyclopes. Finally Mother Earth bore the first gods, six sons and six daughters called the Titans. Cronus’s wife Rhea bore sons she knew that one of the them would overthrow Cronus. Cronus devoured his five sons. After Rhea had her son Zeus she gave him to Mother Earth. Zeus killed his father Cronus and his brothers and sisters were set free from being devoured by their father.

  5. The Greek Titans • The ruler of the Titans was Cronus who was taken over by his son Zeus. TheTitans were Gaea, Uranus, Cronus, Rhea, Oceanus, Tethys, Hyperion, Mnemosyne, Themis, Iapetus, Coeus, Crius, Phoebe, Thea, Prometheus, Epimetheus, Atlas, Metis, and Dione.

  6. The GreekHeroes • The Greek Heroes were Jason, Hercules, Bellrophon, Theseus, Odysseus, and Perseus. Hero refers to a man who was fighting on either side of the Trojan War. By the historical period, however, the word came to mean dead man.

  7. The Greek Olympians • The Greek Olympians were Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hermes, Artemis, Hephaestus. The Olympians are a group of 12 gods who ruled after the overthrow of the Titans.

  8. The Greek Glossary • Nike- In the Greeks terms they said that Nike meant victory. In our day in age it is a shoe, clothing, sport balls, and hats. • Marathon- In the Greeks they had marathon as something that is for a long period of time. Now it is a very long run.

  9. Modern Greek Myths • One of the modern Greek myths is the story of the Chariot of the Sun God. The myth is the story of Phaeton and Helios. Phaeton walked into thegleaming palacelooking for his father who he believes is the Sun God, Helios. Helios told Phaeton that he was his father and he would grant him 1 wish because he had held the secret from him for Phaeton’s whole life. Phaeton wanted to ride the chariot. Helios said to follow his tracks from the other day. Phaeton took of a ways into the ride he couldn’t see the tracks and died.

  10. Greek Creation Myths • Before there was earth, sea, or heaven there was chaos; shapeless, unorganized, lifeless matter. There was no sun moon and no air. Then Chaos made all of the earth have air and matter. Then Chaos married Uranus. Mother earth had three Cyclopes and the Mythology Family tree. And the earth began.
